Weekly Campaign Newsletter from Delegate Bill Frank July 6, 2010
Dear Constituents,
The highlight of the last week on the campaign trail was the Towson July 4th Parade. It's always a very family-friendly event and we always see lots of friends in the crowd. This year, my treasurer George Towle drove the convertible while Mary Jeanne and I walked behind, waving at the crowd. We were joined by our son Michael, his friend Kyle Mitchell, and Mary Jeanne's brother Kelly, his wife Cynthia and two of their children, Jeffrey and Mary Beth, all the way from Cincinnati. Also marching along were my niece Erin King and nephew Jack King. It was great fun, and we received a very warm reception from the crowd.
Not content to complete the parade circuit once, I came back around a second time as part of the "bucket brigade," collecting donations for next year's event, and the third time through I was part of the large contingent walking with our 100-member 42nd District Republican Club. Afterwards, we went to the Towson American Legion for their annual post-parade indoor picnic, which was very crowded and lively. After some mingling and a quick hot dog and soda, I joined my parade committee colleagues to count the donations we received along the parade route. Thanks to the generosity of many people, we collected $4,916, all of which will be designated to next year's parade. It was a fun but exhausting day.
On July 4th, council candidate David Marks and I attended the annual Loch Raven Village Picnic. We spoke with quite a few residents of the Village, and we were given a homework assignment by some concerned residents: investigate the feasibility of installing speed bumps along Glen Keith Blvd and Edgewood Road. We've already made the initial call to the county, and will follow-up until we see the project completed. Speeding through the neighborhoods is a major concern of our district's residents.
Later in the day, David Marks and I greeted folks as they gathered for the annual Loch Raven Village fireworks, which were terrific, as always.
The hot weather has really crimped our ambitious door-knocking schedule. We'll really neeed to double-up our schedule for the next couple of weeks to make up for lost time. In the meantime, we've been waving at traffic most weekdays mornings throughout the district.
This Wednesday, July 7th is the annnual Lincoln/Reagan dinner sponsored by the Baltimore County GOP. The featured speaker is Dana Perino, former press secretary to President George W. Bush. All proceeds help the county's Get Out The Vote effort in the fall campaign. My campaign purchased a table and we've invited several supporters to join us for the evening.
Lastly, I'm very pleased with Gov. Ehrlich's choice for Lt. Gov., Mary Kane. I've known Mary since the early 1980s when we were both students at Mount St.Mary's. She is simply a superb choice, and I'm increasingly confident the Ehrlich-Kane ticket will be victorious in the fall.
Until next week, stay cool!
Delegate Bill Frank
