Dear Constituents:

Last week, the 430th session of the Maryland General Assembly convened for the 90-day 2012 session. As has been the tradition for the past several years, I am pleased to send you the first newsletter of the 2012 legislative session.

This year, several members set records for years of service. Senator Thomas V. Mike Miller became the longest serving president of the Senate in Maryland history, and the longest current serving president of any state senate in the United States. Michael E. Busch, Speaker of the House of Delegates, and Adrienne A. Jones, Speaker Pro Tem of the House of Delegates, also set records for years of service at their respective positions. I congratulate the members on their public service.
